Jan. 28

2:30 a.m. Assault. 2nd Avenue. The complainant was observed to have a cut on his upper lip. The St. Joseph Police Department was contacted. The police officer spoke with the complainant who said an unknown assailant came up from behind assaulted him, hit him once in the face and fled. The complainant said he did not know the assailant and had been drinking at the time of the incident. He also refused medical attention. The police officer advised him to contact the department if he recalled any more information or details of the incident.

Feb. 1

3:58 a.m. Agency assist. 1st Avenue S. A St. Joseph police officer was requested to assist a Waite Park police officer who was busy. Two men were told to leave a motel but refused. The police officer responded but the two men had left. The officer found the two men three blocks away and brought them to Cash Wise without incident. The men verbally identified themselves but did not have any identification with them.

Feb. 2
12:45 a.m. Fight. Minnesota Street. A report of four males involved in a fight was reported. A St. Joseph police officer responded and saw one male walk north toward the main door of the establishment. The men were later identified and issued citations for disorderly conduct. A witness to the fight had a valid driver’s license, however any use of alcohol invalidates his license. The man smelled of alcohol and had a blood alcohol content of .222 percent. The man was advised a report would be sent to the state and he could expect the state to contact him about his driver’s license.

12:45 a.m. Disorderly conduct. Minnesota Street. A male was involved in a fight. He was found to have blood coming from his mouth and nose. Gold Cross arrived but the male refused medical treatment. There was no witness to the fight and no one would provide a statement to the police officer.

Feb. 10
1:20 p.m. Accident. County Road 2 and I-94. Two St. Joseph residents were involved in a car accident. One of the residents was driving a vehicle with a passenger and was stopped at a stop sign waiting to make a left-hand turn. The second resident rear-ended the first. All three people were injured and transported to the hospital by the Gold Cross ambulance. Stearns County Sheriff’s office was assisted by the St. Joseph Fire and Police departments.
