Sartell-St. Stephen Education Foundation has three new board members.
Krista Durrwachter is a former attorney who is now working as the mother to three children, ages 6, 5 and 2. She is an adjunct instructor at the St. Cloud Technical and Community College. As a mother and an alumna of the Sartell-St. Stephen Schools, Krista is excited to help District 748 continue to offer a world-class education to its students.
Jean (Stiegel) Harthan is a new resident of Sartell, but grew up in nearby St. Cloud. She graduated from Apollo High School and then from St. Cloud State University. After teaching in Alexandria, Jean and her husband moved to Columbia, S.C. There, Jean taught second grade and then joined the Response to Intervention team at Midway Elementary School to teach both remedial reading and math to students using researched-based instructional materials.
Her husband’s job with CH Robison Worldwide has brought them back to Sartell. They have two children, Kyle and Kathleen, who attend Sartell Middle School. Jean enjoys spending time with her family, running Kyle and Kathleen to their activities and is happy to once again spend time with extended family members and “old” friends. She also enjoys reading, scrapbooking and exercising. Jean is excited to support public education in ISD 748 as a member of the SSEF.
Rod VanSurksum and Amy VanSurksum have three children, two still in Sartell and another one, Grace, who is a biology major at the University of Vermont, Burlington. Sophie is a sophomore and Garrit is a sixth-grader.
Rod is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. Amy is a former elementary teacher. She taught with the Department of Defense Dependents’ School while stationed overseas with the Air Force. They love to travel, ski and Amy is a great cook.
