Buzz Snyder, Sauk Rapids - I live in Sauk Rapids so do not regularly get to read the Sartell Newsleader. But a friend showed me a copy of last week’s issue, particularly the bizarre and intemperate rant criticizing your past editorials.
That letter did not speak to any issues of politics or public policy; it merely attacked you personally, and in ways that have no place in civil society. While you should be commended for publishing such incoherent venting, bending over backwards to provide “opposing views,” it is my hope such unsettling attacks will not deter you from continuing to express your thoughtful and fact-based opinions in future editorials – some of which I too may disagree with.
Our nation is polarized in many ways, but that does not mean we should disrespect one another to the extreme demonstrated by that letter. And when such verbal assaults go beyond respectful disagreement, as that letter did, it needs to be called out, in hopes the boundaries of civility will yet be defended by more thoughtful people on all sides of the political spectrum.
